At               the               TV               Academy's               AMC's               The               Walking               Dead               panel               held               on               Tuesday,               February               5,               Andrew               Lincoln               said               that               the               third               season's               12th               episode               had               memorable               moments               for               him.

He               just               stopped               short               of               telling               the               packed               audience               and               online               viewers               just               what               those               were.
Joining               executive               producers               Gale               Anne               Hurd               and               Robert               Kirkman               on               stage,               the               cast               shared               character               motivations               and               favorite               moments               of               the               past               two               and               a               half               seasons,               but               were               mum               on               the               upcoming               second               half               of               season               three               which               kicks               off               Sunday,               February               10.

Well-moderated               by               Chris               Hardwick,               the               host               of               The               Talking               Dead               which               airs               directly               after               The               Walking               Dead               episodes,               the               panel               was               more               geared               toward               his               loyal               audience               from               TV               and               fan-panels               than               industry               insiders.
That's               not               to               say               that               the               panel               was               not               run               well.

In               fact,               it               was               one               of               the               better               panels               at               the               TV               Academy.

What               was               missing               was               insight               in               the               process               that               TV               insiders               were               hungry               for.

One               being               why               wasn't               Glen               Mazzara               there.
Originally               slated               to               appear,               Mazzara's               name               was               suddenly               off               the               list,               and               no               mention               of               his               absence               was               made.

Mazzara               is               leaving               the               top               rated               drama---top               rated               in               both               broadcast               and               cable               dramas.

He               took               over               the               series               when               Frank               Darabont,               the               season               1               showrunner,               was               fired               from               the               show.

Fired,               in               fact,               days               after               appearing               at               Comic-Con               to               promote               the               show.

Mazzara               has               not               shared               details               on               being               replaced               by               Scott               Gimple,               but               was               active               on               twitter               the               day               of               the               panel.
The               many               character               deaths               were               touched               on,               with               the               cast               expressing               sadness               over               those               who've               died               on               the               show               and               missing               the               actors               who've               played               the               now-departed.

Given               the               much-publicized               problems               that               AMC               has               had               with               show               creators               especially               with               The               Mad               Men's               Matt               Weiner               and               Breaking               Bad's               Vince               Gilligan               and               now               Mazzara,               it's               no               wonder               the               cast               and               crew               might               appear               somewhat               muted               with               their               comments.

It's               clear               no               one               is               safe               from               being               dispatched               from               the               show-whether               actor               or               executive.

All               it               takes               is               one               scratch               or               bite,               and               they're               dead               meat.

And               there's               very               little               chance               of               re-animation.
AMC               seems               to               have               fostered               its               own               toxicity.
As               mentioned               in               my               article               on               expendable               TV               characters,               being               married               to               the               lead               didn't               help               Sarah               Wayne               Callies'               Laurie.
While               Hardwick               mentioned               the               arduous               conditions               of               shooting               on               location               in               Atlanta               including               the               heat               and               the               ticks,               there               were               few               offerings               in               agreement               by               the               actors.

Does               AMC               have               a               stranglehold               on               negative               comments?
Thanks               to               the               geeky               and               charming               exuberance               of               Hardwick,               the               panel               did               have               many               bright               spots               and               moved               well               with               the               host               drawing               out               humor               from               what               seemed               a               weary               cast.

Kirkman               said               that               there               was               somewhat               of               a               schizophrenic               nature               to               reviewing               the               third               season               being               that               they've               moved               on               to               concentrating               on               season               4.

When               asked               favorite               moments               of               other               cast               members,               Steven               Yeun's               (Glenn)               kick-ass               scene               from               season               3's               7th               episode               and               Andrew               Lincoln's               Rick               finding               out               his               wife               Laurie               died               to               save               their               baby               and               subsequently               was               shot               by               their               son               before               she               turned               were               uniformly               admired               amongst               the               cast.
Many               in               the               audience               were               surprised               that               Lauren               Cohan               was               British--a               series               of               murmurs               arose               about               her               accent               after               her               first               words               on               stage.

Lincoln               and               David               Morrissey               are               Brits               as               well.

Cohan               was               born               in               Philadelphia               but               moved               to               the               UK               in               her               teens.
Many               a               humorous               moment               were               to               be               found:               Greg               Nicotero               joking               about               fake               and               real               severed               limbs               in               the               zombie               warehouse,               Morissey               feigning               umbrage               at               his               Governor               character               being               seen               as               the               bad               guy,               Danai               Gurira               fanning               those               flames               by               saying               that               her               Michonne               didn't               have               a               ballot               to               cast               her               vote               to               put               the               Governor               into               office,               and               Laurie               Holden's               explaining               away               her               Andrea's               poor               choices               in               men               by               her               being               in               the               dark--despite               Michonne               declaring               upon               arrival,               "We               have               to               get               out               of               here."
While               entertaining,               the               frothy               content               led               one               to               suspect               that               a               cure               for               behind-the-scenes               drama               isn't               coming               any               time               soon.

Thankfully               though,               neither               is               a               fictional               one               for               Walkers.

ADDING               ANOTHER               FAVORITE               LINE               from               Danai               Gurira               talking               about               the               Governor:               Why               do               these               dudes               follow               [the               Governor]               around               like               he's               Jesus....I               don't               see               him               walking               on               water               and               healing               the               blind.

He               can't               even               heal               his               own               eye.
